Working within the Safran UK Finance team, the Accounts Assistant will support the Financial Controller in providing timely and accurate financial information, ensuring adherence to group finance procedures and internal controls, and playing a pivotal role in financial reporting communication.

Safran UK, based in Gloucester, operates the UK Shared Service Centre, focusing on service delivery across Transactional Finance, Indirect Procurement, HR, Tax, and International Mobility departments. What will I be doing?

You will work closely with the Financial Controller on various financial activities, including general finance oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Assist with management accounting tasks such as journal posting, accruals/prepayments, cash flow forecasting, and audit preparations.
  • Perform month-end tasks like preparing files for reporting, GRNI analysis, and bank reconciliations.
  • Own sales invoice processing.
  • Complete and submit VAT returns for Safran UK and a small JV.
  • Manage expenses process, ensuring smooth processing and payment of employee expenses.
  • Manage the SUK Generic Mailbox and handle incoming queries.
Job Requirements

What do I need to succeed in this role?

  • AAT Level 2 qualification.
  • Broad understanding of AR & AP ledgers and general accounting.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, including v-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong administrative, numerical, and organizational skills.
  • Analytical skills covering written, graphic, numerical, and statistical information.
