Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a qualified lifeguard to work in our leisure centre in Spennymoor. You will deliver lifeguarding duties, support customers in leading healthier, more active lifestyles and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for pool users.

With Level 2 Gym Instructor and/or National Pool Lifeguard qualifications, you will provide excellent service and assist with day-to-day centre operations while contributing to safeguarding and basic first aid duties as required.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification or equivalent is required.
• National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is preferred.
• Experience in a customer-focused environment is essential.
• First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain one within an agreed timescale.

Responsibilities

• Deliver lifeguarding duties and ensure pool safety.
• Provide excellent customer service across the leisure centre.
• Support day-to-day operation and promote healthy, active lifestyles.
• Encourage participation of children and young people in physical activity.
