Job summary

Berkeley Scott are recruiting a School Kitchen Assistant in Leicester to support a busy school kitchen. You will help ensure meals are prepared and served safely and efficiently, with emphasis on hygiene and teamwork.

Your responsibilities include helping with food prep, supporting during lunch rush, maintaining cleanliness, washing up, and following all safety procedures. A DBS check and Food Safety Level 2 are preferred, with references and a professional approach valued.

• Food Safety Level 2 certificate or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with basic food preparation and meal service.
• Supporting the catering team during busy lunch periods.

Berkeley Scott are currently recruiting for a School Kitchen Assistant in Leicester to support a busy school kitchen. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone reliable, hardworking and passionate about providing a high standard of food service in an education setting.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the smooth day-to-day running of the school kitchen, helping to ensure meals are prepared and served safely and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with basic food preparation and meal service
• Supporting the catering team during busy lunch periods
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen
• Washing up and keeping kitchen equipment and work areas clean
• Following food safety, allergen and health & safety procedures

• Providing a friendly and professional service to pupils and staff

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• Previous experience working as a Kitchen Assistant, catering assistant or within a similar food service environment is desirable
• An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one
• Food Allergen and Food Safety Level 2 certificates, or willingness to obtain them
• Two references covering your recent employment history
• A reliable, positive and professional approach to work
• The ability to work well as part of a team
• Good understanding of hygiene, food safety and allergen procedures
• A willingness to undertake general duties as a General Assistant when needed
