Job summary

Catering in Pontypool, Torfaen, is seeking a dedicated Specifications Technician to liaise with internal and external clients, ensuring accurate information flow and compliance with UK food laws. The role covers creating and controlling internal and external specs and coordinating artwork and pack copies.

You will maintain supplier and raw material specs, support audits against BRCGS standards, and train the technical team on labeling and FIR, with a strong focus on detail, timeliness and clear

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of legal labelling, nutritional analysis, FIR, specifications and pack copy.
• Experience with artwork processes and online proofing.
• Project management experience.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to train technical teams on labelling and FIR.

Responsibilities

• Create, issue and control internal and external specifications.
• Review and update customer specifications for requirements.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of specifications and pack copies for launches.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and update accordingly.
• Upload customer specifications to relevant databases.
• Create pack copies (ingredient declarations and nutritional) for artwork.
• Sign off final artwork and ensure timely release to printers.
• Review artwork against pack copy and request changes.
• Maintain product change traceability by filing artwork and specs.
• Sign off all new artwork against signed pack copy.
• Review raw material specs for legality and accuracy.
• Assist in supplier visits and risk assessments.
• Train technical team to increase FIR knowledge.
