Employment type: 12 month Fixed term contract (maternity cover)

Are you ready to be a key player in one of the most exciting and significant infrastructure projects in the UK? We're seeking a dynamic and experienced construction lawyer to join our team at Sizewell C (SZC) as a Legal Counsel.

The Opportunity

Join our SZC team and work on one of the UK's largest megaprojects, supporting the nation's climate change goals and energy policy. The SZC Project is a nuclear new build in Suffolk, providing dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, aiding Britain in achieving Net Zero by 2050.

We offer flexible, hybrid working with full IT support to enable effective remote work.

The Role

You will provide high-quality legal advice on construction and supply chain activities, including Asset Protection Agreements and rail agreements.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing legal advice to project stakeholders on complex, high-value matters, including development of construction and supply chain contracts.
  • Supporting the SZC capital raise through legal guidance on procurement activities.
  • Ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation across project activities.
  • Assisting in dispute resolution and liaising with external counsel.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and law firms.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales or equivalent.
  • Extensive post-qualification experience, especially in construction supply chain contracts (NEC).
  • Ability to handle high-value, high-risk legal matters strategically.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management.
  • Broad legal knowledge, construction sector experience, and commercial acumen.
  • Experience with infrastructure projects, nuclear environments, and understanding of corporate risk areas is advantageous.
