Job description

Title: Legal Cashier
Team: Accounts Team
Location: Ipswich
Hours: 9.00am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday
The Candidate

Reporting directly to the Accounts/Payroll Manager, you must have a friendly and approachable manner with well-developed verbal skills when liaising with staff, suppliers, bankers, and accountants. You should demonstrate accuracy and reliability, handle all situations appropriately, and be able to work independently as well as part of a team under supervision.

Duties

Your responsibilities as a Legal Cashier will include:

  1. Liaising with colleagues regarding incoming monies, including notifications of received funds, postings, and general queries.
  2. Processing online bank payments such as BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments, and International Payments, ensuring proper authorisation.
  3. Managing inter-account transfers between client and office accounts for bills and disbursements.
  4. Processing receipts, payments, invoices, write-offs, expenses, and daily banking.
  5. Performing daily bank reconciliations.
  6. Managing the Purchase Ledger, including recording and paying invoices when due.
  7. Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and Money Laundering Regulations at all times.
  8. Registering and reporting potential breaches to the COFA.
  9. Supporting fee earners and support staff to comply with the firm's internal cashiering regulations.
