Job summary

Macular Society, Beating Macular Disease, invites applications for Legacy and In Memory Officer. The role focuses on donor journeys, stewardship, and accurate donor records.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to donor journeys and stewardship for legacy and in memory contacts.
  • Develop content for legacy communications for website, social media and publications.
  • Act as first point of contact for legacy/in memory contacts via post, phone and email.
  • Process and recognise in memory donations from postal, telephone and online sources.
  • Maintain full records in CRM and handle filing, scanning and data entry with confidentiality.
  • Adhere to fundraising codes of practice, especially legacy marketing.

Salary: £28,800 pro-rata - Part time - 21 hours per week

About the role

As part of our caring and ambitious legacy and in memory team, you’ll play an important role in delivering excellent supporter care. You’ll have a varied mix of responsibilities, from processing donations and correspondence and responding to enquiries from existing and future supporters, to supporting marketing campaigns, identifying and supporting the production of marketing materials and helping us build strong, lasting relationships with our supporters.

As our legacy and in memory officer, you will:

  • Contribute to the creation and development of robust donor journeys and stewardship for legacy and in memory contacts
  • Assist in the development of content for key legacy and in memory communications, identifying potential supporter stories for website, social media and publications
  • Act as a first point of contact for legacy and in memory contacts, responding by post, phone and email as appropriate and maintaining an excellent level of donor care
  • Take responsibility for processing and recognising postal, telephone and online in memory donations and for ensuring in memory donations from third party websites are correctly fulfilled
  • Maintain full and accurate records for legacy and in memory contacts within our CRM database and be responsible for filing, scanning and database entry of any related documents, with due regard to confidentiality and in line with data protection legislation
  • Be familiar with and adhere to the relevant Fundraising Codes of Practice, in particular those regarding legacy marketing.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion whilst remaining professional at all times
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills and ability to prioritise effectively
  • Experience of maintaining accurate and clear records
  • Highly developed attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and supporters
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 365 programmes and supporter databases.

We offer a flexible approach to working in this role, including the potential opportunity to work compressed hours over fewer days, or spreading out the hours out across the working week.

It is important that you can work from our Andover office for all, or some, of your hours, in order to process and fulfil postal correspondence and donations.
