Job summary

South Essex College Group is recruiting a Maintenance Lecturer to lead the development of a high-profile apprenticeship and study programme in the Engineering Department. The role focuses on Delivering maintenance training, both practically and theoretically, aligned to City & Guilds and relevant BTEC units.

You will engage learners across Maintenance processes, support EPA, build employer partnerships and contribute to curriculum development while maintaining high teaching standards and student

Qualifications

  • Significant industry experience in the maintenance field.
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in engineering or related discipline.
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Assessor qualification (or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe).
  • Experience using digital portfolio systems and online learning technologies.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to delivering an outstanding learner and employer experience.

We are seeking an ambitious, experienced, and forward‑thinking Maintenance Lecturer to join our Engineering Department and lead the development of a high‑profile apprenticeship/Study Program curriculum area. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience. Our staff are dedicated to providing high‑quality education and training that enables learners to achieve their full potential. We are looking for a motivated and suitably qualified individual to join our dynamic Engineering Team and take responsibility for the delivery and development of our Machining/Maintenance provision.

The successful candidate will possess strong industry expertise in Maintenance, with the ability to engage and inspire learners across a range of Maintenance processes. You will be experienced in delivering practical and theoretical training aligned to City & Guilds qualifications, as well as teaching relevant BTEC Engineering units (Units 1, 2 and 3) Hydraulics/Pneumatics, Bench fitting for EAL, and City & Guilds Level 3 4515. You will bring energy, enthusiasm and professionalism to the role, supporting apprentices to achieve success through high‑quality teaching, assessment and mentoring. Working closely with learners, you will support apprentices/full‑time learners throughout their entire learning journey, from recruitment and induction through to End‑Point Assessment (EPA). You will build and maintain strong employer partnerships, ensure an excellent customer experience, and contribute to maintaining our reputation as a provider of choice for apprenticeship training.

  • Assessor qualification (or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe).
  • Experience of using digital portfolio systems and online learning technologies.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to delivering an outstanding learner and employer experience.
