Job summary

South Essex College Group is seeking a Welding Lecturer to join the Engineering Department and lead the development of the Welding Apprenticeship curriculum. You will deliver practical and theoretical training across MIG, TIG and MMA welding, aligned to City & Guilds and BTEC units, while mentoring apprentices throughout their learning journey.

The role emphasizes building strong employer partnerships, ensuring quality learner experiences, and contributing to continuous curriculum improvement

Qualifications

  • Significant industry experience in welding and fabrication.
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in engineering or welding.
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Assessor qualification or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe.
  • Experience of using digital portfolio systems and online learning technologies.

Advert Text We are seeking an ambitious, experienced, and forward-thinking Welding Lecturer to join our Engineering Department and lead the development of a high-profile apprenticeship curriculum area. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience. Our staff are dedicated to providing high-quality education and training that enables learners to achieve their full potential. We are looking for a motivated and suitably qualified individual to join our dynamic Apprenticeship Team and take responsibility for the delivery and development of our Welding Apprenticeship provision. The successful candidate will possess strong industry expertise in welding and fabrication, with the ability to engage and inspire learners across a range of welding processes, including MIG, TIG and MMA. You will be experienced in delivering practical and theoretical training aligned to City & Guilds qualifications, as well as teaching relevant BTEC Engineering units (Units 1, 2 and 3) and sheet metal fabrication. You will bring energy, enthusiasm and professionalism to the role, supporting apprentices to achieve success through high-quality teaching, assessment and mentoring. Working closely with employers, you will support apprentices throughout their entire learning journey, from recruitment and induction through to End-Point Assessment (EPA). You will build and maintain strong employer partnerships, ensure an excellent customer experience, and contribute to maintaining our reputation as a provider of choice for apprenticeship training.

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering or welding discipline.

  • Assessor qualification (or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe).
  • Experience of using digital portfolio systems and online learning technologies.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
