Job description

Here at Brockenhurst College, we are looking to recruit a Lecturer in Music on a part-time, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £25,297 to £42,454 per annum, DOE.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

The Role

As our Lecturer in Music, you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching.

Responsibilities As Our Lecturer In Music Will Include

  • Teach BTEC Music and lead practical music ensembles as agreed with the Curriculum Leader,
  • Provide pastoral support where required
  • Act as Course Leader, when requested
  • Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriate
  • Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of student
  • Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course
  • Organise and participate in relevant visits, field trips etc
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, including Enrolment/Open Events and Parents' Evening, as appropriate
  • Advise and assist the Curriculum Leader and other team members in all matters related to the delivery of subject specialisms

As Our Lecturer In Music, You'll Ideally Have

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area
  • Appropriate teacher training qualification
  • Excellent teaching skills
  • Experience in delivering Music BTEC Programme at level 3
  • Experience in running music ensembles
  • Demonstrate a capability with relevant Music software
  • The ability to manage learners and learning effectively
  • The ability to develop effective learning resources
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to relate well to learners of all abilities and to assess learner needs
