Job summary

Myerscough College in Preston is seeking an educator with a degree and teaching qualification to lead Maths GCSE and Functional Skills delivery on FE programmes.

You will manage courses, drive curriculum development, and promote maths engagement at the Croxteth Park Centre, with involvement in assessments and learner progress. Industry experience is welcome if paired with a teaching qualification path; opportunity to participate in external events and broader academic activities.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed or equivalent) or working towards one.
• Maths qualification at Level 3 or above.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Deliver GCSE and Functional Skills Maths to FE learners.
• Undertake course management duties as required.
• Drive development of the maths curriculum.
• Promote engagement in maths at the Croxteth Park Centre.
• Support external industry events to enhance learners’ experience.
• Contribute to academic enhancement and research activities.
• Monitor learner progress using college systems.
• Assist with examinations and internal assessments.
• Invigilate exams as required.

• Delivery of GCSE and Functional Skills Maths to studentson courses on predominately Further Education programmes but may be required todeliver on adult should the need arise.
• Study Programme Leader – FE.
• Undertake course management duties, as required.
• Todrive forward the development of the maths curriculum.
• Topromote engagement in maths at the Croxteth Park Centre.
• Support and participate in external industry events toenhance the learner experience.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement ofacademic enhancement and research activities, as required.
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of learnerprogress utilising the recognised College systems.
• Take an active part in the development of the VLE siteto “gold” standard.
• Take an active part in the standardisation and internalverification of Maths GCSE and Functional skills E1 to level 2 courses.
• Work within the General Education team to provide an inspirational learning environment that helpsall learners reach their full potential.
• Be actively involved in the initial and subsequentassessment of learners in order to establish specific learning aims.
• Communicate learner cohort progress to other areas asrequired and keep areas informed of individual learners through recognisedchannels.
• Be actively involved in the planning and implementationof examinations and internal assessments.
• Invigilate exams and internal assessments as required byLine Manager.
