Job summary
Sandwell College is seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer in Computing to join the Computing department and deliver high-quality teaching across Computing programmes. The role supports learners to develop technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours for progression into higher education and employment.
You'll work with the Head of Section and curriculum team to develop Computing provision and ensure an outstanding educational experience that supports achievement and progression.
Qualifications
- A degree and/or relevant professional qualification in Computing or a related subject.
- A teaching qualification such as a Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification.
- Experience delivering high-quality teaching and learning within a further education or vocational setting.
- Experience delivering BTEC Computing qualifications, including Next Generation specifications.
- Experience of curriculum development and creating engaging learning resources.
- Knowledge and experience of internal verification and standards verification processes.
- Industry experience within the Computing or digital sector would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of achievement rates and the relationship between performance, inspection and funding.

- Liaise effectively with colleagues, employers, external agencies and industry partners to support learner progression and employability.

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).
