Job summary

Middlesbrough College Group is seeking a Lecturer in Accounts to teach AAT Level 4 learners and apprentices, providing mentorship and guidance to help students achieve qualifications while contributing to a supportive, developmental environment.

The role emphasizes professional development, learner success, and innovative teaching methods within the Apprenticeships department. The position is 0.8fte on a part-time, permanent basis.

Qualifications

• Hold an AAT qualification up to Level 4.
• Hold a PGCE/Cert Ed or be willing to work towards one.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent).
• Relevant Degree or equivalent - Desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning on AAT Level 4 and accountancy apprenticeship programmes.
• Support learners to achieve their qualifications, apprenticeship standards and career goals.
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons using a variety of teaching methods.
• Monitor learner progress and provide timely feedback, coaching and pastoral support.
• Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.

Job Title:Lecturer in AAT - 0.8fte

Department:Apprenticeships

Salary:£24,480 – £36,069 per annum (actual salary) subject to a progression criteria*

Contract:Part Time, Permanent

Hours:29.6 hours per week

Annual Leave:45 days per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays (pro rata)

Pension:Teachers’ Pension Scheme

*The salary progression criteria beyond point 11 of the Lecturer scale will be based on you achieving and maintaining, on an annual basis, the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or QTS. To progress beyond point 14 of the Lecturer salary scale, you will be expected to achieve and maintain the Advanced Teacher Status (ATS).

Qualifications

Experience

• Experience of teaching AAT qualifications (Levels 2, 3 and 4).
• Experience of delivering Finance Apprenticeships – Desirable.
• Experience of delivering teaching, learning and assessment activities.
• Experience of assessing learner knowledge, skills and behaviours.

Skills & Knowledge

• Current knowledge of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and its impact on teaching and learning.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prepare and deliver high-quality teaching materials, including effective use of learning technologies.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
