Job summary

Middlesbrough College is seeking a Tutor / Assessor – Dental Nurse to manage a caseload of Dental Nurse apprentices and deliver teaching, learning and assessment. You will work with employers and learners to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for successful qualifications and career progression.

The role supports part-time, permanent employment with a salary of £15,230–£18,201 per annum and 18.5 hours per week, plus generous annual leave and pension benefits.

The Role

Are you an experienced, qualified Dental Nurse and ready for a change of career in Dental Nursing Tutoring?This role involves managing a caseload of Dental Nurse apprentices, delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, working closely with employers, and helping learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to achieve their qualifications and progress in their careers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of learners, providing ongoing support to ensure timely progress, achievement and successful completion of their apprenticeship programme.
• Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment activities that meet apprenticeship standards and qualification requirements.
• Conduct learner enrolments, inductions and initial assessments, creating personalised training plans with clear targets and development goals.
• Carry out regular progress reviews, provide constructive feedback and implement interventions to support learner achievement and engagement.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with employers, monitoring learner progress and supporting positive workplace learning experiences.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Dental Nursing or a relevant vocational discipline.
• Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent Functional Skills qualifications).
• Assessor qualification (TAQA, CAVA, A1 or equivalent), or willingness to work towards achieving one.
• Teaching qualification such as AET (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards achieving one.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Relevant occupational experience within the Dental Nursing sector.
• Experience supporting, coaching, mentoring or developing others.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with learners and employers.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a caseload, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Ability to motivate and support learners to successfully achieve their apprenticeship and career goals.
