Job summary

South Thames Colleges Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation lecturer to deliver high‑quality teaching, learning, assessment and tutorial support to FE students, driving achievement and continuous improvement.

You will contribute to curriculum development, employer engagement and learner skills development, with opportunities to progress and to obtain uplift based on qualifications and industry experience. DBS checks and safeguarding are required.

  • Qualified to teach Electrical Installation in UK FE settings.
  • Proven ability to plan engaging lessons and track student progress.
  • Strong classroom management and motivational skills.

Job description

South Thames College is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation lecturer to deliver outstanding quality in teaching, learning, assessment, and tutorial support to students, to maximise achievement and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in supporting the development of the curriculum, with employer engagement, and learner skills development. You'll create and implement innovative teaching, learning and assessment and deliver teaching and assessment activities within own area of specialism including lectures, setting/marking coursework, practical's and field work.

We'd like you to hold a teaching qualification (or working towards), hold an Electrical Installation qualification and have recent UK teaching experience in Electrical Installation in an FE College. With proven ability to plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons, you'll have experience of assessing, tracking and supporting student progress effectively with strong classroom management skills, able to motivate diverse learners. You'll have good understanding of current FE curriculum frameworks and quality standards, able to differentiate teaching to meet a wide range of learner needs. A strong communicator and excellent organisational skills, you'll be able to manage workload and meet deadlines.

Uplift (up to £5K) if the candidate has the following:
  • Relevant Vocational Qualification (Level 3)
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to complete
  • Relevant industry experience
Further uplift (up to £5K) if the candidate has the following:
  • Hold a JIB ECS Card with a grade at approved of Site Technician status
  • Additional Qualifications in Electrical Installation i.e 2382 (18th Edition)
  • Assessors Award D32/33 or TAQA equivalent.

You will have proven experience of working in the Electrical industry, installing systems and equipment in a wide range of environments. You'll be up to date in terms of technologies within the construction industry and be able to adopt different methods and strategies according to individuals' learning abilities.
