Job summary

Rotherwood Cares is recruiting experienced Leaving Care Support Workers to join our agency team, providing flexible staffing across Lancashire for semi-independent accommodation and leaving care services.

We seek dedicated individuals with experience helping 16-18-year-olds and care leavers facing trauma, emotional/behavioural challenges, or complex needs. The role offers flexible day, night and weekend shifts and the chance to contribute to positive transitions into adulthood.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months' experience working with children, young people or care leavers.
• Experience in leaving care services, semi-independent accommodation or supported housing.
• Understanding safeguarding for children and young people, including risk management.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred emotional and practical support to young people 16-18 and care leavers.
• Help develop independent living skills (cooking, cleaning, budgeting, routines).
• Encourage engagement with education, training, employment and community activities.
• Support young people with trauma, mental health and behaviours that may challenge.
• Maintain professional boundaries while building trusting relationships.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive decision-making.
• Assist with appointments and liaise with social workers and professionals.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and complete accurate documentation.
