Job summary

Grayswood Church of England (Aided) Primary School in Sunderland is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide English and Maths support for a pupil or pupils, in class, on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

You will work closely with the Class Teacher and SENDCo to adapt resources, ensure learning is accessible, and help pupils build confidence, resilience and independence while recording progress and contributing to planning and reviews.

Qualifications

  • Permission to work in the UK.
  • GCSE maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt learning materials to suit individual needs.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and pupil wellbeing.
  • Supportive of the school’s Christian ethos and values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to meet pupils’ individual learning needs.
  • Encourage confidence, independence and resilience through positive reinforcement and a relational approach.
  • Work closely with the Class Teacher and SENDCo to implement strategies and interventions.
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development.
  • Adapt resources and activities to ensure accessibility and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to reviews and planning meetings.
  • Supervise and support positive interactions in the playground and lunch hall.
  • Deliver first aid and record this appropriately.
  • Liaise with staff members across the school as required.
  • Record safeguarding incidents or concerns in line with school policies.

Job description

This role primarily involves providingEnglish and Maths support for a pupil or pupils in a variety of situationsincluding within the classroom, on a one-to-one basis and leading small groups.The successful candidate will work well within a team under the direction ofthe Class Teacher and SENDCo, whilst also acting on their own initiative toadapt resources and activities to ensure that the learning is accessible. Theywill bring a warm, positive and encouraging approach to help pupils to thriveacademically and build resilience and independence.


Key responsibilities:



  • Provide tailored support to meet pupils’individual learning needs

The successful applicant will have:
