Job summary

Barking & Dagenham College is seeking a committed Learning Support professional to join the ALS team on a part-time, term-time basis. You will support students with learning difficulties and disabilities, mainly in foundation learning, delivering individualised and in-class assistance to help access the curriculum.

You will work under supervision with tutors and coordinators to track progress and promote inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• A Level 2 or above qualification.
• Experience of providing effective coaching for students on an individual basis or in a group setting.
• Understanding of academic and vocational education in a college setting.
• High level of oral skills, one-to-one and in group settings.
• Excellent written skills: able to compile clear procedures and guides.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, individualised support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
• Deliver one-to-one and in-class support to ensure learners can access the curriculum.
• Support students with SEMH needs and encourage engagement and attendance.
• Use learning support systems to implement bespoke support plans.

Role:

Reporting to the LSP Coordinator, you will work under the supervision and guidance of lecturers and coordinators to provide high-quality, individualised support for students with learning difficulties anddisabilities.

You will primarily support learners within foundation learning programmes, delivering both one-to-one and in-class support to ensure students can fully access their curriculum.

You will be responsible for;

• Work under the supervision and guidance of tutors to support students with mild/moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities within Horizons
• Provide one-to-one and group support (direct and indirect) for students following foundation courses, primarily within the learning environment
• Collaborate with Student Support Advisors and the Youth Worker to support students with SEMH needs and encourage positive engagement and attendance
• Use learning support systems to ensure bespoke, individualised support plans are implemented effectively
• Support, monitor and track learner progress, attendance, behaviour and completion of vocational activity
• Promote inclusive practice and positive learning behaviours within the classroom
• Contribute to creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment
• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with curriculum and support teams

What We’re Looking For;

• A level 2or above qualification. (E)
• Experienceof providing effective coaching for students on an individualbasis or in a group setting to support success and progression (E)
