Job summary

Polaris Education in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, is seeking a Teaching Assistant to mentor and support pupils aged 5-18, helping with targets, EHCPs, and classroom duties. This full-time, fixed-term (1 year) post is term-time only.

You will work under the guidance of a teacher, report on progress, supervise outside lessons, and contribute to planning and assessment. A DBS check will be completed at Polaris’s cost.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Mathematics at minimum grade C or equivalent.
• A Level (or equivalent) is preferred.
• Sound IT skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (up to six).
• Be aware of EHCP targets and help evaluate them.
• Support the classroom teacher during lessons.
• Report on pupils’ progress and concerns to staff.
• Supervise pupils outside lessons, including trips and activities.
• Assist with lesson planning and classroom prep.
• Set work and undertake marking where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships to drive learning outcomes.
