Job summary

North Lanarkshire Council is recruiting Learning Assistants (Universal) for St Margaret's of Scotland Primary School. Temporary positions run until 25 June 2027, with two patterns: 25 hours (Mon-Fri 9:00–15:00) and 15 hours (Mon-Fri 11:00–14:00).

You will support children in the classroom, assist with personal care, and help prepare learning materials. Successful applicants will need PVG clearance and may be added to supply lists for future vacancies.

Qualifications

• Recent experience working with children in a school setting or voluntary capacity is essential.
• Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills are essential.
• Willingness to undertake NHS or Education training as required is essential.
• Experience of working with children/young people who have additional needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Care for children and assist with personal hygiene requirements.
• Reception and departure of children and escort duties.
• Prepare classwork and materials, set up teaching aids and recording programmes.
• Reprographics work as needed and assist with stock maintenance of hygiene sundries.
