Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking a Learning Support Assistant in South East London to support students with complex needs, providing one-to-one and small-group support, and delivering personal care with sensitivity.

This role uses Team Teach techniques to manage behaviour, includes manual handling and peg feeding under established plans, and requires building trusting relationships with young people, collaborating with teachers, therapists and families.

Qualifications

• Essential: Team Teach training
• Experience of providing personal care to young adults
• Manual handling training or practical experience
• Experience of peg feeding
• Ability to build rapport and meaningful connections with young people
• A patient, caring and resilient approach

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students with complex needs.
• Delivering personal care with sensitivity, dignity and respect.
• Using Team Teach techniques to support positive behaviour and, where necessary, safe de-escalation.
• Carrying out manual handling procedures in line with individual care plans.
• Supporting students who are peg fed, following agreed protocols and training.
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and families to support each student's individual plan.
