Job summary

Dovetail And Slate Ltd in Fareham is seeking five Learning Support Assistants to join their team in the Fareham/Southampton area. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to students with additional learning needs.

Your role centers on building trusting relationships, enabling learners to access the curriculum, and promoting independence and confidence inside and outside the classroom.

Qualifications

• A genuine commitment to supporting learners with additional needs.
• The ability to build rapport with young people and adults.
• Patience, sensitivity and strong communication skills.
• The ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
• Desirable (but not essential): Experience working within the further education sector.
• Previous experience in a learning support or education role.
• An understanding of the support requirements involved in accessing education and training.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to learners with additional needs, both in and out of the classroom.
• Working alongside teaching staff to help students access the curriculum and complete their work.
• Encouraging learner independence, confidence and engagement.
• Supporting the delivery of individual learning plans and monitoring progress.
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
