Sheddingdean Primary School in Burgess Hill is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join the team for a fixed-term year. The role involves aiding one or more pupils with personalised learning plans within a therapeutic approach to behaviour management.

The ideal candidate will have experience with diverse needs, strong English skills, and a willingness to undertake specialist training. Term-time, fixed-term position, salary on NJC Grade 3 SCP 3 scale.

NJC 3 £24,796 – £25,185 (pro rata Full time - £17.398.44-£17,671.39)

Job Details

Salary: Grade 3 scp 3 (Pro-Rata)

Contract Type: Fixed term (1 year)

Working Pattern: Term time only

Location: Sheddingdean school

What You Need to Succeed

To be successful in the role you will need to:

  • Have experience of working with children with varying needs primary or preschool setting (essential)
  • Have a good level of written and spoken English and functional level of mathematical skills and knowledge. (essential)
  • Have NVQ2 or equivalent as recognised by the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning (NOS-STL) (desirable)
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of pupils. (essential)
  • Have an interest in how children learn and behave. (essential)
  • Provide appropriate role models of behaviour both in the classroom and around school (essential)
  • Really care about children, particularly those who find learning and managing their behaviour difficult. (essential)
  • Understand how children communicate in different ways (essential)
  • Have training in aspects of SEN, i.e. ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism (desirable)
