Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive and vibrant educational team. This role offers a unique opportunity to transform lives by supporting pupils with non-verbal Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), enabling them to reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support the learning and communication needs of pupils with non-verbal ASD. Your role will include providing one-to-one support, assisting with alternative communication methods, and fostering an engaging, positive atmosphere in the classroom.

The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed

We are seeking someone with experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and a passion for supporting children with non-verbal ASD. Candidates should have a relevant degree, or qualifications in teaching assistance, childcare, or Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Familiarity with alternative communication methods is highly desirable, but a willingness to learn is most important. Empathy, patience, and creativity are essential traits for success in this role.

The School

Hours

This role is from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Applications are welcomed for both full-time and part-time positions.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education, you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long-term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
