Job summary

Barnwood Park School in Gloucester is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support learning across subjects and year groups, working with individuals and small groups to create a focused, inclusive environment.

The role involves contributing to pastoral and inclusion work, with responsibilities including language interventions, differentiating materials, and after-school support. A commitment to CPD and safeguarding is essential.

Qualifications

• Holds at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English at C/4.
• Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent; or substantial relevant experience.
• Evidence of personal commitment to CPD
• Experience working directly with children or young people
• Basic understanding of child development and learning

Responsibilities

• Provide speech and language interventions
• Provide in-class support for identified students or small groups
• Assist in whole class management through modelling effective behaviour
• Develop and lead small group work supporting SEMH and related paperwork
• Assist in producing teaching materials and differentiating tasks
• Provide after school support for identified students as required
• Provide regular feedback to teachers and SENDCo
• Support students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties
• Record progress using appropriate systems
