Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a specialist primary school in Bury. You will support children with ASD, SLD, and PMLD, helping them access learning and develop confidence in a caring environment.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, collaboration with staff and therapists, and assistance with personal care as needed. Prior SEND experience and training are valued for this rewarding position.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND, education, care, or support backgrounds.
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication approaches.
• Relevant qualifications or training related to SEND support.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist with accessing learning activities tailored to individual needs.
• Promote communication, social development, and engagement in lessons.
• Support sensory-based learning, play activities, and interventions.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver high-quality support.
• Assist with personal care and mobility needs where required.
• Create a safe, positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and adapt to learning needs.
