Job summary

Leeds City College is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for the Somerville House campus. You will scaffold learning, mentor students facing social and emotional challenges, and help coordinate assessments and EHCP progress with SEND teams.

The role focuses on inclusion for learners with an EHCP and spans Level 1–2 courses within the Enterprise and Employability Department. The position is a reduced 40‑week contract with a pro‑rata salary of £24,284 per year.

Qualifications

• Clear oral and written communication skills and IT literacy are essential.
• Commitment to working with learners who have high needs or SEND.
• Ability to collaborate with college staff across campuses.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparation and assessment as part of the curriculum team.
• Provide in- and out-of-class support to students with high needs.
• Provide reports to teachers/ SEND team on student progress and outcomes.
• Support personal care, medical and mobility needs when directed by staff.
• Support transport arrangements and help learners develop independent travel skills where needed.
