Job summary

Leeds City College, part of the Luminate Education Group, is seeking a dedicated SEND Support Worker to work with our course leaders and teachers, supporting students with emotional and behavioural needs. Based at Somerville House, the role is 40 weeks per year with a pro rata salary of £24,515 to £25,133, scaled to a full annual equivalent.

The post involves collaboration with schools, parents, and external agencies to help learners progress.

Qualifications

• Good general education at NVQ level 2 or equivalent including literacy and numeracy.
• Willingness to undertake training to support disengaged/disadvantaged students with emotional/behavioural needs.
• Experience of working with schools, parents and external support agencies.
• Able to manage challenging behaviour.
• Able to prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Programme Managers, Course Leaders and teachers to support individual students or groups of students who may demonstrate emotional and behavioural needs.
• Support teaching staff where individual student behaviour within a group is impacting on the learning of the group as a whole.
• Collaborate with Pastoral and Send/HN staff to facilitate links with schools, parents and appropriate external agencies.
• Assist with the collection and maintenance of documentation for student records.
• Contribute to individual student target-setting and reviews and contribute to ongoing advice and guidance concerning progression routes.
