Job summary

AWD online is recruiting a Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant in Hedge End, near Southampton, Hampshire. The role supports pupils with SEND across subjects in a secondary school, with full induction and ongoing professional development provided.

29.18 hours per week, term-time only (38 weeks), with a permanent part-time contract. The successful candidate will work beside teachers in classrooms and small groups, promoting independence and progress for students with additional needs,

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students and teachers
• Resilience, adaptability, patience and a positive, approachable attitude
• A good standard of numeracy and literacy
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Commitment to supporting students with additional needs to develop, progress and become more independent
• Understanding of the statutory framework relating to safeguarding

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom and small-group support across subject areas
• Adapt strategies to students' individual SEND needs
• Liaise with class teachers to understand support requirements and provide progress feedback
• Contribute to annual reviews and gather student views where required
• Support break times and after-school activities on a rota basis
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety regulations and school policies
• Participate in relevant training and professional development
