Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in Harrow. The role involves working closely with teachers to ensure tailored support that enables students to access the curriculum and make progress.

Key duties include one-to-one or small-group support, implementing IEPs and behaviour plans, and helping create an inclusive, safe learning environment while adapting materials and reporting progress to staff and SENCO.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEND in school or care settings.
• Strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
• Patience, empathy and a proactive approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required.

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils with SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
• Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
• Support pupils with classroom activities, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
• Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
• Adapt learning materials to meet the needs of individual pupils.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and report concerns to the class teacher or SENCO.
• Support pupils with personal care needs if required.
