Job summary

Ashlands Primary School in Ilkley is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant primary school community.

The successful candidate will work with our Early Years Team across nursery and reception to support all children, promote independence and inclusion, and assist with SEN needs under class teachers' supervision. This fixed-term post starts September 2026 and runs to July 2027 with a view to becoming permanent for a strong applicant.

Qualifications

• Experience working with primary school children (EYFS) desirable.
• Ability to support children individually or in groups.
• A good level of literacy and numeracy desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support children in the Early Years Team across nursery and reception.
• Promote independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.
• Provide support to pupils individually or in groups under teacher supervision.
• Be flexible to work across key stage as required.
• Support children with SEN needs.
• Contribute to consistent routines and effective communication.
• Be patient, caring and a good communicator; take initiative.
