Axcis Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a Post-16 SEND College in DA17. The role focuses on supporting students aged 16+ with a range of additional needs in classroom and vocational settings to build independence and employability.

No formal TA qualification is required, but experience with SEND and youth support is highly desirable. This is a full-time, term-time only position starting in September with a long-term outlook.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people or vulnerable adults with SEND or additional learning needs.
• No formal Teaching Assistant qualification required, though experience is desirable.
• Experience supporting learners aged 16+ in vocational settings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND.
• Support learners during vocational lessons including cooking, arts and crafts, life skills, and employability programmes.
• Encourage participation, engagement and independence in learning activities.
• Assist communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience and practical life skills.
• Support transitions, educational visits, and community activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and SEND professionals to deliver personalised support.

Learning Support Assistant, Post-16 SEND College (Vocational Subjects) DA17 | Full-Time | Term Time Only | September Start | Long-Term Opportunity Pay: From £92.63 per day (PAYE)

Axcis Education is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Post-16 SEND college in DA17. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to begin or develop a career in education, SEND, youth work, care, healthcare, or support work. No formal Teaching Assistant qualification is required, although experience supporting young people with additional needs is highly desirable. The role involves supporting students aged 16+ with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, communication needs, and complex learning needs. You will support learners both in the classroom and during vocational subjects, helping them develop independence, employability skills, confidence, and essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND.
• Support learners during vocational lessons including cooking, arts and crafts, life skills, community-based learning, and employability programmes.
• Encourage participation, engagement, and independence in learning activities.

• Support students during transitions, educational visits, and community activities.

• Confidence supporting students with varying levels of independence and communication.
• Experience in education, care, support work, youth work, healthcare, hospitality, customer service, or sports coaching is highly desirable.
