Job summary

Dovetail and Slate Limited is seeking a Learning Support Assistant - Personal Care in Essex to support learners with additional needs, enabling access to lessons and activities.

In this temp role you will provide personal care, assist with mobility and daily living needs, work with teaching staff, and help maintain records in line with safeguarding procedures. A calm, patient approach and good teamwork are essential.

About the Role

You will work closely with students who require personal care support, helping them to access their learning and participate fully in college life. This is a hands‑on role that combines practical care with genuine encouragement, working alongside teaching staff to ensure every learner is treated with dignity and respect.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing personal care support to students in line with their individual care plans.

• Assisting learners with mobility, hygiene and other daily living needs as required.

• Supporting students to access lessons and activities alongside their peers.

• Working closely with teaching staff, therapists and families to ensure consistent, joined-up support.

• Encouraging independence and building learners' confidence in their own abilities.

• Maintaining accurate records in line with the organisation's safeguarding and care procedures.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience or a genuine willingness to provide personal care support

• A calm, patient and compassionate approach to working with young people or adults with additional needs

• Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners

Desirable (but not essential):

• Previous experience working in an education or care setting

• A relevant qualification in health and social care or learning support
