Job summary

Derby College Group (DCG) are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for our Pathways team at the rural Broomfield Hall Campus. You will provide in-class and out-of-class support to students with inclusion and support needs, helping them achieve and progress.

You may assist with personal care if required and will be supported to gain specialist qualifications. We value positive, motivated individuals with strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Positive, motivated, eager to learn and be a role model.
• Experience in supporting students with learning needs is helpful.
• Willing to undertake specialist qualification with employer support.

Responsibilities

• Provide range of support services in and outside the classroom for students with inclusion needs.
• Assist students with personal care if required.
• Support students to access all elements of the curriculum and engage with learning.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor progress and adapt support.

The Opportunity

Our students are at the heart of our person-centred approach, and within this role you’ll be providing a range of support services both in and outside the classroom to students who have inclusion and support needs. The support that you provide we enable these students to achieve and progress. Within this role you’ll also assist certain students with personal care if required.

About You

If you’re positive, motivated, ready to learn new skills and be a role model we'd love to hear from you! You’ll have great communication skills and build good working relationships. We also value practical problem solving and using your initiative in trying to make our students world a little better every day. You will be keen to work with students supporting them to access all elements of the curriculum.

If you have a specialist qualification like supporting students with learning difficulties/disabilities or equivalent then that is great, but if not we will support you to achieve this!
