Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work 3 days a week at a Coventry specialist alternative provision. The role supports primary-aged children with SEMH and autism, delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group help in a calm, structured environment.

You will work indoors and outdoors, helping pupils manage emotions and build social skills, with opportunities for ongoing support and longer-term roles. A dedicated consultant will assist throughout the placement.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEMH, autism or challenging behaviour as an LSA, TA, Learning Mentor, Support Worker or Youth Worker.
• A warm, patient and nurturing manner with firm boundaries.
• Interest in trauma-informed and relational approaches.
• Dedication and a passion for making a difference to children.

Responsibilities

Hours: 3 days a week

Can you help a child feel safe enough to learn again? Luma Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work 3 days a week with primary-aged children at a specialist alternative provision in Coventry.

Pupils have SEMH needs, autism and other complex SEND. The school is calm, therapeutic and highly structured, with personalised plans for every child, and outdoor learning in a natural environment plays a big part in the school day.

What the role involves

• Giving targeted 1:1 and small-group support to children with SEMH and autism
• Helping pupils recognise and manage their emotions with co-regulation strategies
• Spotting early signs of dysregulation and responding calmly and consistently
• Encouraging independence, social skills and positive relationships
• Supporting learning both indoors and outdoors as part of a close-knit staff team
• Sharing observations with staff to shape each child's support plan

The ideal LSA will have

• Experience supporting children with SEMH, autism or behaviour that challenges, as an LSA, TA, Learning Mentor, Support Worker or Youth Worker
• A warm, patient and nurturing manner with firm, consistent boundaries
• An interest in trauma-informed and relational approaches
• Dedication and a passion for making a difference to children
