Job summary

Phoenix Collegiate seeks a Learning Support Assistant for maternity cover in West Bromwich. You will support students with additional needs and contribute to raising achievement and standards within classrooms.

The role involves helping students access the curriculum, supporting with assessments, and supervising on trips. GCSE grade 4+ is expected, with experience in education preferred.

Qualifications

• GCSE grade 4 or above (or equivalent).
• Experience with children or young people in an education setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support for students with speech, language and communication and social/emotional difficulties.
• Assist students to access the school curriculum and use of learning materials.
• Assist with assessment of attainment and recording and monitoring of progress.
• Supervise students on school trips/ visits.

Some of the duties and responsibilities are:

Provide classroom support for students with speech, language and communication, social and emotional difficulties through:

• Supporting individual and group work to raise core skills, supporting Personalised Learning Plans and help students access the national curriculum

Assisting students to access the school curriculum and in the use of

• General support to students in line with Education, Health and Care Plans or planned provision
• Assisting in the assessment of students’ attainment and with the recording and monitoring of students’ progress
• Assisting with the supervision of students on school trips/visits

You will have attained GCSE grade 4 or above (or an equivalent qualification) and ideally, will have experience of working with children or young people in an education setting.
