Job summary

Gosforth Group is seeking a pro-active Support Assistant for its Learning Support department within a Newcastle area academy. The role focuses on assisting students with a range of needs, supporting learning, behaviour and attendance while collaborating with teachers to maintain welfare and progress.

The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, high emotional intelligence and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality student support in a busy school environment.

Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of SEND.
  • Sympathetic understanding of 11–16 year olds' broad needs.
  • Experience supporting young people with learning difficulties or disabilities.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality student support.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with attention to detail.

Job description

We are looking to appoint a brilliant and suitably qualified Support Assistant who is passionate,pro‑activeand innovative to join the Academy’s successful Learning Support department.The successful candidate will play a key role in working alongside students with a range of needs,supportingwith learningand alsowith behaviour and attendance issues asappropriate.The Learning Support Department works across all Key Stages to ensure up‑to‑date andaccurateinformation is available for class teachers, and that students are supported to ensure they can access the curriculum.The post is ideal for someone who is focussed on student welfare and progress and keen to be an integral part of the many varied aspects of school life.
