Job summary

The Supply Register Ltd. is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join South Tyneside College.

This full-time, temporary role supports students in classrooms and learning environments, including those with SEND, to help them succeed. You will work with teaching staff to create inclusive, accessible learning experiences, provide one-to-one and small-group support, monitor progress and promote safeguarding and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting learners in education or care settings.
• Understanding of SEND and additional learning needs.
• Patient, empathetic and encouraging approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised support to students in classrooms, workshops and practical learning environments.
• Support learners with SEND and additional learning needs.
• Work with teaching staff to create an engaging, inclusive learning experience.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help students overcome learning barriers.
• Encourage participation, independence and confidence in learners.
• Help students develop essential study skills, organisation and positive learning habits.
• Monitor progress and share feedback with tutors and support teams.
• Provide encouragement, guidance and practical assistance to help learners achieve goals.
• Support personal care needs where required and appropriate.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
