Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to aid students with additional needs in a school setting. You will provide directed classroom support, clarify instructions and help learners access curriculum materials with patience and resilience.

Under the SENDCo and teacher guidance, you will assist in targeted areas, support ICT-enabled learning, supervise during breaks, and help prepare learning resources to promote independence and inclusive

Responsibilities

• Provide directed support in the classroom and assist students with learning tasks.
• Liaise/communicate with teachers on a lesson-by-lesson basis to assess best usage of LM support.
• Clarify and explain instructions and help students access curriculum materials.
• Assist in weaker areas (speech and language, reading, numeracy, handwriting) following a designed programme.
• Support students’ physical needs and promote independence during PE, breaks and mobility tasks.
• Work with the SENDCo and other professionals to implement agreed behaviour management strategies.
• Prepare appropriate resources and supervise group activities to maintain a conducive LD learning environment.
• Contribute to progress reviews and provide feedback on learning and behaviour to the teacher/SENDCo.
