Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join primary schools in Hartlepool and surrounding areas from September 2026. You will support pupils in the classroom, help them access learning, build confidence and independence, and remove barriers to education.

Whether experienced or new to education, you will contribute to targeted interventions, support SEND learners, and work with teachers to deliver engaging activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Experience in school, education, care, youth work, or support setting is advantageous.
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • Confident supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
  • Passion for helping children achieve full potential.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils.
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and engage with learning.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging learning activities.
  • Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.

  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement.
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and resilience.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and school staff.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, teachers, and the wider school team.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional practice.

Job description

Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Hartlepool and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join schools from September 2026.

Whether you’re an experienced Learning Support Assistant or have experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable individuals and are looking to develop your career within education, we’d love to hear from you. We have a range of long-term and full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You’ll play a key role in supporting pupils within the classroom, helping them access learning, develop confidence and independence, and overcome barriers to their education.

Key Responsibilities

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
