Job summary

Morgan Hunt is recruiting for a Full-Time Learning Support Assistant to join the Skills for Life department of a Further Education college in the Wirral. The role involves supporting students with additional and complex needs, providing educational and practical help throughout the college day.

You will deliver 1:1 and small-group support, aid independence and confidence, assist with personal care when required, and work closely with teaching staff to ensure appropriate support for learners

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people or adults with additional needs, disabilities or complex needs.
• Experience in education, care, SEN or support settings is desirable.
• Confident providing personal care and supporting students with daily living needs.
• Patient, compassionate and positive approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
• Passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students within the Skills for Life department.
• Support students with learning difficulties, disabilities and complex needs.
• Assist students to access their learning, activities and wider college environment.
• Encourage students to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.
• Provide support with communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing where required.
• Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure appropriate support.
• Provide personal care support where required, including assistance with personal hygiene and daily living tasks.
• Follow individual support plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
• Promote dignity, choice, independence and respect at all times.
