Job summary

Wirral Met College is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join the Skills for Life department. The role focuses on delivering 1:1 and small-group support to students with a range of additional needs, assisting with learning and daily activities within a college setting.

The successful candidate will help students develop independence, confidence and essential life skills, including communication and emotional wellbeing, while working closely with teaching staff to ensure

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people or adults with additional or complex needs.
• Experience in education, SEN or support setting is desirable.
• Patient, compassionate and positive approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students in the Skills for Life department.
• Support students with learning difficulties, disabilities and complex needs.
• Assist students to access learning, activities and the wider college environment.
• Encourage students to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.
• Provide support with communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to ensure appropriate support.
• Support students during practical activities, trips and wider college activities.
• Provide personal care support where required (hygiene, toileting, dressing).
• Follow individual support plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
• Promote dignity, choice, independence and respect; maintain professional boundaries.
• Build positive relationships with students while ensuring professional boundaries.
