Job summary

King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support students with Special Educational Needs, helping them become more independent learners. You will undertake specified work with individuals or groups under the SENDCo guidance.

You will also undertake a daily lunchtime supervisor duty, managing your area and ensuring students are safe and respectful. No prior experience required; enthusiasm for working with young people and clear communication are

Qualifications

• Good literacy and numeracy skills; level 2 GCSE or equivalent in English and mathematics.
• Strong communication skills to support students and collaborate with staff.
• Experience of working with young people is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to support learning and independence.
• Be deployed in classrooms and support teachers, building positive relationships.
• Proactive, initiative-driven in following school policies and safeguarding.
