Job summary

Doucecroft School, Eight Ash Green, Colchester, is seeking Bank Learning Support Assistants to join a friendly team. This flexible bank (zero-hours) contract offers shifts to suit your availability and aims to support learners across curricular activities.

You will provide direct support in group and individual settings, assist the class teacher, take part in activities and visits, and help with safeguarding and lunchtime supervision. DBS checks are required.

Qualifications

• Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above.
• Experience working with learners with autism or learning disabilities is advantageous.
• Driving license desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to learners in group and individual learning settings.
• Assist the Class Teacher and Teaching Assistant to deliver lessons.
• Support learners during lunchtime and school visits and supervise break times.
• Contribute to safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies.

Job Introduction

Are you passionate about helping young people reach their full potential? Doucecroft School, part of Autism Anglia, are looking for Bank Learning Support Assistants to join our friendly and dedicated team.

The successful Bank LSA will aim to inspire and encourage learners to develop their knowledge and confidence across multiple educational disciplines, facilitating a supportive and safe environment for learning. This is a Bank (zero-hours) contract with opportunities for regular shifts, though hours are not guaranteed.

What The Role Involves

• Provide direct support to our learners in their learning environment in both a group and individual setting
• Taking an active role in a wide range of classroom and physical activities throughout the academic year; assisting and working closely with the Class Teacher and Teaching Assistant to contribute to lessons
• Gain excellent on-the-job training together with continued professional development, support, and supervision
• Supporting the class teacher in educational visits and school journeys and accompanying learners on visits
• Working with learners at lunchtime and supervising break times
• To comply with and promote to others, the policies and procedures relating to the school, specifically those relating to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, security confidentiality, and data protection
• Potential driving responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

• NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning is highly desirable but not essential
• Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above
• Relevant experience working with learners with autism or learning disabilities in an educational setting is highly advantageous
• Driving license highly desirable
