Inspires MAT invites applications for a Learning Support Assistant to join our Autism Provision at Witham. You will work alongside class teachers and therapists to deliver structured, individualised support tailored to each child’s needs.

The role is 26.25 hours per week, 8.45am–3.15pm, Monday–Friday, with a 15-minute morning break and 1-hour lunch break. Salary starts at £15,382 per annum, rising with 28.75 hours total to £16,801 p.a. and includes lunchtime support.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with children with autism or SEND is desirable.
  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C or equivalent are required.
  • Calm, empathetic and highly patient demeanor.
  • Ability to follow guidance while showing initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with autism in individual, small-group and whole-class settings.
  • Implement support strategies informed by EHCPs and individual plans.
  • Use structured approaches to support communication, emotional regulation and behaviour.
  • Create a calm, predictable and supportive learning environment.

  • Observe and record progress and contribute to reviews and planning meetings.
  • Work closely with families and external professionals where appropriate.

We are seeking a compassionate, patient and motivated Learning Support Assistant to work within our Autism Provision, supporting children with autism to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

You will work closely with class teachers and therapists, under the guidance of the Head of Autism Provision, to deliver structured, consistent and individualised support tailored to each child's needs.

This is a rewarding role for someone who believes that every child can succeed when given the right support.

The working hours for this LSA position are 26.25 hours per week, the working pattern is 8.45am - 3.15pm Monday-Friday. (15-minute unpaid morning break and 1-hour lunch break), paid on Scale 3 point 6, £15,382 per annum.

This also includes an additional 2.5 hours per week, (½ an hour per day), lunchtime support. (Scale 2 point 4, £1,419 per annum)

Total working hours - 28.75 hours per week, total salary £16,801 per annum

The ideal candidate will
  • Have experience of working with children with autism and/or SEND (desirable but not essential)
  • Hold GCSE (grades A-C or equivalent) in both Maths & English
  • Be calm, empathetic and highly patient
  • Understand the importance of routine, consistency and clear communication
  • Be able to follow guidance while also showing initiative
  • Have good teamwork and communication skills
  • Be committed to inclusive practice and safeguarding
