Job summary

Prospero Teaching invites applications for a Learning Support Assistant in Newcastle. You will support pupils aged 11-19 across KS3- KS5 with tailored strategies, focusing on 1:1 and small group work to help them access the curriculum and achieve progress.

Hours are 08:30–15:30, Monday to Friday, with a pay rate of £15–£16.50 per hour. This temporary role may lead to permanent opportunities for the right candidate and requires an updated DBS and right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role or setting, ideally within a school environment
  • Supporting teacher or child-care related qualification (desired, not a must)
  • Confident working on a 1:1 basis or within a group setting
  • An ability to build healthy relationships with pupils and staff
  • Kind, positive and proactive nature
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Hold an updated DBS certificate on the update service or the willingness to process a new application
  • Professional child or care-related references covering the last two years

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students and pupils aged 11-19 across all year groups, depending on preference and specialism
  • Provide effective learning methods and support pupils on a 1:1 basis, providing the tools and knowledge for the pupil to succeed
  • Support students within a small group, typically between 3-5 pupils
  • Maintain accurate records tracking the progress of the pupil's breakthroughs and accomplishments and identifying where they made require additional help
