Job summary

Prospero Teaching is hiring a Teaching Assistant in Sunderland to support students aged 11-19 across KS3 to KS5. The role involves assisting teachers, delivering focused academic and pastoral support, and helping foster an inclusive classroom environment.

The ideal candidate will have school-based experience or a relevant qualification, strong communication skills, and a patient, proactive approach. This is a full-time, temporary contract with potential for permanency starting September 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school or education setting is desirable.
• Teaching Assistant or related qualification preferred.
• Ability to support 1:1 and small groups.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students aged 11-19 across KS3–KS5 as required.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons.
• Provide tailored academic and pastoral support 1:1.
• Support small groups of 3–5 pupils.
• Help create an inclusive, positive learning environment.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff.
• Encourage engagement, confidence and independence in the classroom.
