Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Liverpool is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work across secondary schools. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to students, collaborate with teachers and SENCOs, and help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Applicants should have experience working with challenging behaviour or SEMH, strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive approach. DBS enhanced is required or willingness to apply.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, or similar role.
  • Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour and/or SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate (Update Service) or willingness to apply for one.

Learning Support Assistant Required - Secondary Schools Across Liverpool

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to secondary-aged students.
  • Support students with additional learning, behavioural, social, and emotional needs.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support student progress.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques when required.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence within the classroom.
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, or in a similar role.
  • Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour and/or SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach.
Desirable
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Psychology, Youth Work, or related fields.
  • Experience within secondary school settings.
  • Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or other behaviour management interventions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
