Job summary

Tiverton High School in Tiverton, Devon, is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to provide key SEN support within the classroom and to work closely with teaching staff to ensure learning needs are met. You will deliver personalised SEN provision, support students to access the curriculum, and provide pastoral support, monitoring progress and feeding back to the class teacher.

This role also offers opportunities for skill development and training within a supportive school environment

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent as a minimum.
  • GCSE English and Maths at C grade or above.
  • Experience of supporting students with SEN and utilising strategies to manage behaviours and meet needs, including supporting speech and language.
  • Awareness of Child Safeguarding and SEN policies and external agency collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalised SEN provision and support students to access the curriculum.
  • Deliver pastoral support and monitor progress, feeding back to the class teacher.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure provision is effective and learning needs are met.
  • Contribute to a positive learning environment and support behaviour management strategies.

Job description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant practitioner to join our team, providing key SEN support within the classroom, and working closely with other teaching staff to ensure provision is effective and that learning needs are met., As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll provide personalised SEN provision, supporting students to access the curriculum at an appropriate level and adapting the learning to make it accessible for students with specific needs. This role also involves providing pastoral support, and you'll monitor progress to feed back to the class teacher whilst working closely with relevant staff to ensure an individual can achieve to the fullest extent., As a Learning Support Assistant within Tiverton High School, you'll be able to make a key difference to a pupil's educational experience as a crucial part of the wider team, and will have the opportunity to develop your skillset with key training and development opportunities available.

Tiverton High School serves the beautiful and historic market town of Tiverton in mid Devon and is within easy commuting distance to the regional centres of Exeter and Taunton. We can be found just off junction 27 of the M5. We are within easy reach of areas of outstanding national beauty such as the Blackdown Hills, Dartmoor, Exmoor and close to the lovely Devon coastline.

  • Ability to effectively communicate on the pupil's progress, with strong written and verbal communication skills
