Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking experienced Senior Learning Support Assistants for day‑to‑day supply and long‑term contracts across Swindon and Wiltshire from September 2026. This role blends hands‑on pupil support with leadership responsibilities and coordination of interventions.

You will work with SEND staff and teachers to maintain consistent practice, assist pupil plans, and promote independence and wellbeing in a busy education environment.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND or SEMH needs.
• Ability to mentor colleagues and coordinate interventions.
• Strong safeguarding, confidentiality and inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate interventions and contribute to pupil-support planning.
• Mentor support staff and liaise with teachers and SEND professionals.
• Provide focused one‑to‑one or small‑group support.
• Promote independence, wellbeing and positive behaviour; maintain progress records.
• Assist with pupil plans and reviews across schools.

This is an excellent opportunity to provide skilled learning support while helping to maintain consistent practice across a team. You may coordinate interventions, mentor support staff, contribute to pupil plans and reviews, liaise with teachers and SEND professionals, and provide focused one‑to‑one or small‑group support. You will promote independence, well‑being and positive behaviour while keeping accurate records of progress and support.

Opportunities will be available from September 2026 and may range from individual day‑to‑day bookings to long‑term contracts providing greater continuity within one school.

• Substantial experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or in a comparable education support role
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, additional learning needs or social, emotional and mental health needs
• The confidence to mentor colleagues, coordinate interventions and contribute to pupil‑support planning
• A strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and inclusive practice
• Excellent communication, organisation, record‑keeping and teamwork skills
